Flipboard, Paper.li, and Twittertim.es. Oh my!
Posted August 3, 2010 by Clare Jacobson
All of us at DealMakerMedia have a big fat crush on Paper.li.
Basically Paper.li takes all the links shared on your twitter feed and organizes them into an easy to read, online, interactive newspaper. Paper.li newspapers can be generated for any Twitter user, list, or #tag. You can share your newspaper with others, and subscribe to up to five Paper.li newspapers for free while they are still in Alpha.
DealMakerMedia went to Paper.li, plugged in our twitter name, and moments later, had our very own DealMakerMedia newspaper. We took a screenshot here to share it with you.

Our newspaper has articles posted by our favorite twitters… i.e. Mashable, ReadWriteWeb, and TechCrunch. Like a traditional newspaper, Paper.li organizes everything into sections including: Education, Art and Entertainment, Business, etc. There are sections for videos and photos, a constantly updating twitter feed, and in short, it’s just so pretty!
Paper.li is similar to the red-hot new iPad app Flipboard. Flipboard launched and has been wildly popular. In fact, Flipboard maxed out its server capacity in a shocking 20 minutes. While you have to have an iPad to enjoy Flipboard, Paper.li is available across the web to anyone. Regardless of differences, the two companies offer similar services in visually appealing manners. Twitter has their own newspaper generator called Twittertim.es, but in our opinion it’s not as good as Paper.li in terms of style and ease.
Paper.li is funded by Kima Ventures, whose co-founder Xavier Niel recently acquired the legendary French newspaper Le Monde.
Paper.li would be an amazing company for GoogleReader to acquire. If GoogleReader were this well organized and looked this good, undoubtedly a LOT more people would subscribe.
Paper.li is operated by SmallRivers, a small startup in Lausanne, Switzerland founded in 2008. SmallRivers develops web services that “facilitate the interconnection of people around shared interests.”
If you have a twitter account, go right now to Paper.li and give it a try. Paper.li is free and instant and I promise you won’t be disappointed. You might even fall in love with Paper.li like all of us at DealMakerMedia. It’s just so cool! If you don’t want to generate your own, then just read Bill Gates newspaper to start. Have fun!
