Sector: The company name pretty much gives it away–this company addresses problems in identity management, helping CIO’s figure out how to keep employee digital identity simple to use and to secure. On the most basic level, solving this problem will give your IT staff a lot more free time….surveys tell us that helpdesk employees spend more than half their time resetting passwords!

Secret Sauce: Ignition: the device hooks up to a company’s network
and purports to make digital identity management easier and more secure. It integrates
with common identity stores as well as popular LDAP directories from enterprise
vendors such as Sun Microsystems and Novell.The company says that Ignition ensures that confidential information
access is restricted to and stays with the right people. The Ignition Model 3000E costs
$15,000.

Seen
and Heard
: Byte and Switch reports that Ignition links up with firewalls,
routers, and switches, as well as user repositories and authentication systems,
such as Microsoft Active Directory and RSA’s authentication server.

Presenting with these companies at the Nov. 16 UTR conference : Trusted Network Technologies, Bridgestream and Sxip
