Conceptshare – What a Concept!

Posted January 16, 2007 by admin

FYI, I just completed an interview with two of the ConceptShare founders.

Also, you might want to add a way for people to contact UnderTheRadar. I wanted to email you this
interview to add to the article but after spending 15 minutes looking for a contact, I gave up.

Conceptshare – What a Concept!

Conceptshare

Founded: 2006

Sector: Office 2.0, Collaboration, Conferencing

Headquarters: Ontario, Canada

Management: Bernie Aho, Product Manager/Co-Founder, Scott Brooks, Co-Founder/Evangelist and Chris D’Aoust, Senior Developer/Co-Founder

Funding: Angel

Secret Sauce: Visual taste is a funny thing, it’s really flexible about some things and other things not at all, and what works for some can be painfully ugly to others. Ever hire a designer who sends you a mocked-up a web page that just doesn’t work? The time wasted on emailed revisions and lengthy discussions sucks up a design budget like a sponge. Real world problem. Real world solution. Conceptshare is based on the idea that any discussion of visual ideas needs a visual platform. And it’s pretty cool.

Web collaboration apps are cropping up all over, but Conceptshare is on to something by targeting the design community. Overall it works like a charm. You can get a free workspace, or subscribe and get a bunch. The workspace is where you upload images (quickly), text-chat live and best of all, mark the areas you’re talking about with basic tools.

A very lovely eyedropper delivers color hex codes on the spot and the pen tool renders in any color so you can compare shades, etc, which is really useful for web designers. Print designers use a different color system, but if ConceptShare figures out a way to add a Pantone translator it’ll be golden.

Seen and Heard:
TechCrunch says “Conceptshare is very pleasing to use,” and in comparing it to Thinkature, another web collaboration workspace, concludes that Conceptshare is “clearly the most powerful of these two services.” CenterNetworks reports “If you’re a web designer, you’re going to love this one. It allows you to collaborate with your clients, or anyone that you invite.”
